Recoat is a Glasgow-based Arts Organisation made up of artist duo, Amy Whiten and Ali Wyllie. Recoat started out as a gallery in 2007 but has evolved and grown so that they now specialise in curating mural projects, exhibitions and education programmes in the field of Contemporary Urban Art.

Harvest is a skateboard brand and platform for the Scotland skating scene who collaborate with artists, illustrators, film makers and designers on a spectrum of projects to celebrate homegrown talent and bring together a thriving community.

 

As a lot of the work they do involves the surfaces of flat walls and structures, they decided to turn things around and look at painting 3 dimensional objects and forms. Giving each participant in their workshop a 3 dimensional object to study and connect with. They asked, what type of person the object would be? How would they behave and what would they sound like?

Once this initial research was complete, each participant was introduced to the process of spray painting and invited to paint the surface of their objects, considering who that object might be and how it could be portrayed and how to give the physical forms new life.
