You may have noticed some changes on social media. What’s happening to GDFS you might be asking?
Well, after 6 editions of Graphic Design Festival Scotland, welcoming over 220,000 participants and visitors, over 30,000 poster submissions, more than 120 events and some beautiful experiences shared, it’s time to look to the future.
Thank you to each and every one of you for being a part of this inspiring community. The journey has been extraordinary so far
Now it is time for the next step.
Built on our collective experience, knowledge gained and networks grown throughout the years, we are launching a new organisation which the festival will operate within.
Broadening the scope of our work to include new opportunities for the wider creative industries and introducing an international awards programme mark the most significant changes to what we’re doing.
The real magic happens when disciplines come together.
The festival will combine graphic design, art direction, photography, film, storytelling, branding, strategy, advertising, type design, animation, illustration, art, fashion, and different forms of creative expression, including new disciplines as they emerge. This was always the case but this will now be communicated more publicly, most significantly through the name change.
New and old combine as GDFS evolves into INTL.
Expect enhanced familiar programmes alongside new and exciting opportunities for every step of your creative journey. Opportunities for fresh-faced students through to seasoned industry leaders. We are unbelievably excited to introduce to you…
INTL aims to celebrate, showcase and inspire creatives across the world through three key pillars:
International Assembly
An international creative festival. Get inspired, learn something new and make connections in the creative industry through a programme of conferences, workshops, socials and exhibitions. The first edition will take place in 2021.
International Creative Awards
Recognising leading creatives and outstanding projects through an international awards programme. Scheduled to open in Spring 2021 with the results announced at the first International Assembly in 2021.
International Posters
A celebration of poster design through a global competition, exhibition and published book. Receiving over 30,000 posters from 107 countries since 2014, the competition will open for entry in 2021. The new exhibition is proposed to open during the first International Assembly in 2021.
How can you get involved now?
Over the coming months, we look forward to sharing more about INTL and how you can be involved. Our social media handles have now changed and the website will be updated over the coming months.
It’s been an incredible journey so far. Buckle up for the next chapter!
