You can now get your hands on the International Poster Book. This is
the
second bound publication we've published alongside the International Poster Exhibition but this marks the evolution of the catalogue into
a book. The 176
page perfect-bound book
features the 140 shortlisted posters exhibited at Graphic Design Festival Scotland 2017, interviews with 10 designers and special features with comments from the jury on the winning posters. All posters submitted as series
a series have been included in the book as a complete set. Book introduction: "This book provides a snapshot of contemporary poster
design from around the world.
Selected from 6,095 works from 82 countries,
designed predominantly within 2017, we have curated
140 pieces which we believe to be diverse and of a high
quality for you to enjoy and consider. Some of the 140
pieces of work included are represented by a larger
number of posters within a series however within this
book, these are considered as one single feature. The
posters included are diverse in concept, style, subject,
purpose, motivation, physicality, geography, means of
production and are not categorised in any way. We hope
you can find your own associations and connections.
This year, we are taking a more critical approach
to how we display and communicate our selections.
Alongside the 140 posters, we speak with the designers
behind the work; fresh-faced students, independent
designers and established studios displayed alongside
one and other as a global community.
We’re asking more questions; of ourselves, our
colleagues, the designers who submitted and of the jury.
The topics of our questions, often leading to discussion
or debate include format, purpose, value, quality, trends,
modes of display, shifting definitions, emotion... and what
actually defines a poster?" The book is designed by
Warriors Studio and printed in Glasgow by
J Thomson. The cover is litho
